Context & story
Cozy Summer is a story about the nostalgia of summer evenings in a Mediterranean garden. The client is a young woman moving into her own home for the first time, so it mattered that every corner of her new world was inspired by the things she loves.
Together we chose lemons as the theme — they feel fresh and add a pop of colour.
Requirements & distinctive elements
- Natural shades and a realistic look
- Texture built with special materials
- A lemon theme — fresh, with a pop of colour
- The mood of a Mediterranean garden on a summer evening
Every corner of her new world had to be inspired by the things she loves.
Intervention
The living-room painting shows a lemon branch made from a mix of paint and texture.
- I started by projecting the drawing onto the wall with a VR headset, so my client could adjust the image to the size and shape she wanted in real time. Finally I added a few branches and resized elements to make the drawing more realistic.
- Preparing the surface and isolating the work area from the rest of the room — a key step, because murals are painted at the end of a renovation, when furniture is already nearby.
- Texture went on first, followed by colour. I used a base of 5 shades mixed together to get the full range. As my first mural project, estimating the right amount of materials and every colour needed was hard, so I relied on my artist’s instinct.
